Hiwot Integrated Development Association (HIDA) formerly known by the name Hiwot HIV/AIDS Prevention Care & Support Association (HAPCSA) is a legally registered, Ethiopian resident’s charity established in December 1999. Since then, the association has been intervening in all the 10 sub-cities of Addis Ababa focusing on three programmatic areas which are HIV/AIDS prevention, Holistic care and support for infected and affected families and capacity building. Currently, based on the verdict of the SPM, the associations stretched out of Addis and start its exemplary service provision in North Shoa Oromia Zone.
Under its HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Program, over 370,246 people have been reached from all corners in the program target communities with different valuable messages. The provisions of care and support service mainly focus on addressing the material, health and financial challenges of PLHA and bed ridden patients was one of the core care and support components which have been delivered in all the operational sub cities of Addis Ababa. Under this core program area more than 9223 beneficiaries were reached. The community based care and support for HVC designed in line with the Ethiopian government standard HVC service delivery guideline (7+1) which aims to address the priorities and felt needs of HVC and guardians/ caretakers of HVC. Since the commencement of the intervention, HIDA has reached over 19,609 HVC in all target operational areas. Out of the total, 3319 HVC are register into the service form North Shoa project.
